![]() In some areas of the game, especially the boss stages there are a few tricky obstacles darted around and can take a few attempts to get past. The atmosphere in the game is very much the same as episode 1 although there is a slight different feel to the overall game play. The game starts off with both sonic and tails landing in their plane and they get out into the first act, and this starts the game. There is also a double spin attack-move which is a required to smash through containers and snow. Throughout the game you will need Tails to assist you by flying and swimming through tricky parts of the levels. The game is set out very similar to the first episode but this time round tails has been added into the mix. This really lets the game down as a whole and makes me feel like there was not as much time spent… The music in this game however is very repetitive and the music in each act repeats after 30-40 secs and in no way stands out. When I think of classic sonic games I think of great levels with great catchy music which played a massive part in giving the game that sense of fantasy and adventure and will never be forgotten. The thing that lets this game down in my opinion is the music. The same famous sound FX are used which should always be kept this way. The animation of sonic looks smoother and the background has a lot more detail and takes on a more 3D look, as the first one was more 2D. Presentation The presentation is a lot better this time round than it was in episode 1. You are in a plane in all three acts of this zone, and the boss is the hardest and most challenging out of all of the zones. ![]() With that said the last Zone is very much like the one in Sonic 2 and even though it looks very much the same as Sky Fortress, in episode 2 has to be the best zone in the game. ![]() A lot of the obstacles you face have been seen already in the other games. This was really frustrating and took a good few mins to figure it out The platform element of sonic 4 episode 2 is not as creative or as in-depth as it was in Sonic Generations or the first 3 platform games and lacks originality. For example on the snow level there is an underwater part and if you don’t destroy the enemy when you get the chance, you end up running out of air and dying. At times it can be hard to tell if this is down to bad game design or if it has been added intentionally. It can be a bit stressful the number of times you die before getting through. ![]() ![]() Sonic 4 Episode 2's Community Page The game is set out very similar to the first episode but this time round tails has been added into the mix. ![]()
